Q

How to connect to my Wifi network?

In the main menu of the Wanderwatch you will find a tree icon with 3G in it. Click on the icon to set the Wifi network. The keyboard is small but keep trying and you will manage. The icon shows whether you are connected with 3G or with Wifi. If a small red dot appears on the icon, the watch is not connected to the Wanderwatch server. A Mobile 3G connection will show as a tree icon with "3G" in it. Wifi is shown as a house with the Wifi strength shown within it.

Q

How to set the language?

Click on the settings icon in the Wanderwatch main menu. You will get a new menu, click again on settings. Scroll down to the green icon called ‘language & input’. Click on this. Click on English. You will get a menu with different languages. Choose the language of your preference.

Q

How to install the Magic Beacon?

Wanderwatch will have to know the name of the Magic beacon to look for.

Read here on how to install the Magic Beacon: https://www.wanderwatch.com/wanderwatch-configuration

Q

The magic beacon does not work, what should I do?

On the right side of the magic beacon you will see 4 little dots. That is a button. Push this button for a little while until it lights continously. Then the magic beacon is on. Flashes the light? Then the magic beacon is switching off. As soon as the magic beacon is on, you do not need to switch it off. The battery lasts for at least 2 years.

Q

My first chat message does not arrive, what should I do?

When the Wanderwatch starts for the first time, a number of messages need to be exchanged with the server. The chat messages have a lower priority than these messages. You will notice that the communication improves significantly after Wanderwatch processed the first messages. We kindly ask for your patience.

Q

Is the Wanderwatch available in more colours?

Currently we only offer the watch in black. We have found black to work best for outdoor play as it is least sensitive to dirt and stains. And we have found that both girls and boys like that it looks like a real gadget and not a toy. We do understand that you want to change the appearance of the watch and that is why you can change the colour of the screen. You can chose from 7 colours. Read here how to change it: https://www.wanderwatch.com/settings

Q

Does my watch get software updates?

Yes of course! Just make sure that your Wanderwatch is charging and is connected to Wifi. We take care of the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Screen

Q

My screen looks weird, what to do?

Your screen setting changed to square. It is easy to set this setting back to round. Push the power button (the top one on the side of the watch) and hold it until it vibrates. You will get the shut down screen. On top of this screen you will see the smartwatch icon. Just click on it and the setting changes to round. We need this square setting because some screens do need it.

Q

Oh no, my screen has scratches.

The Wanderwatch is made for outdoor play. That is why it has a screen protector as a standard feature. It is hard to see it and that is how it should be. You can renew the screen protector easily in case that is necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Softband

Q

How to install the softband?

The soft band provides a comfortable feel. It is made of breathable fabric. Attaching the soft band to the watch is easy:

  1. Carefully slide the 2 strap holders from the Wanderwatch over the buckle to remove them temporarily

  2. Slide the soft band over each side of the watch. Notice that the elastic in the soft band has more space on one side. Slide that side over the buckle

  3. Re-attach one or both strap holders by sliding them over the buckle

Q

Can I wash the softband?

Yes, of course! Please wash the watchband by hand with a mild detergent on a low temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prepaid Simcard

Q

What countries are supported with the pre-paid simcard?

Wanderwatch will work in both the USA and Europe (countries listed below) with a flat rate. The simcard uses AT&T and the T-Mobile network in the US and in Europe it uses 2 of the top 3 providers in a country. This way, you can rest assured that Wanderwatch is always able to connect, wherever you go.

Countries that are included in Europe are:  • Albania,  • Armenia,  • Austria,  • Belgium,  • Bosnia,  • Bulgaria,  • Croatia,  • Cyprus,  • Czech Republic,  • Denmark,  • Estonia,  • Finland,  • France,  • Germany,  • Greece,  • Hungary,  • Iceland,  • Ireland,  • Italy,  • Latvia,  • Liechtenstein,  • Lithuania,  • Luxembourg,  • Macedonia,  • Malta,  • Moldova,  • Montenegro,  • Netherlands,  • Norway,  • Poland,  • Portugal,  • Romania,  • Russia,  • Serbia,  • Slovakia,  • Slovenia,  • Spain,  • Sweden,  • Switzerland,  • Turkey,  • Ukraine,  • United Kingdom.

Q

Wanderwatch credits, how does it work?

The prepaid simcard of Wanderwatch uses a credit system. Instead of the usual money amount, we have chosen to use credits. Credits are helpful for our international customers outside of the European Union, who are not familiar with the value of the Euro. Also typical Wanderwatch messages are very small, so we need to have a system where small messages can also be expressed in a value easily.  Credits can be recharged, using the parent's app. For a fixed amount of € 20 (you might have to pay taxes depending on where you live) you will get 60,000 credits. Credits will be automatically reduced when you are using Wanderwatch with the 3G connection.  Sending or receiving a typical voice message will cost 4 to 5 credits. Of course, there are also service messages, but the voice message is one of the biggest. If sending only voice messages, you would be able to send and receive over 13,000 messages! Data-intensive communication, such as updates to Wanderwatch software will only start if there is a Wifi connection.

Please note that credits expire when the Wanderwatch is not used for a period of 6 months.

Q

Do I need to buy a simcard?

Wanderwatch comes with a free prepaid data sim card. No subscriptions but pay what you use. It is expected that normal usage will result in about Euro 65 per year. The sim card works in the greater Europe, North-America and even in more countries. So you can take your Wanderwatch with you on holidays.

Q

Can I call with the Wanderwatch?

Calling is not possible. We provide multiple messaging options. We provide a SIM card that is data only. Some countries in Europe prohibit the sales of anonymous prepaid SIM cards for voice, because of terrorism. But more importantly kids don’t particularly like their mom calling on a speaker phone with their cool friends surrounding them and she saying: Hi sweetie it’s me! We have found that kids prefer messaging. Therefore we offer great messaging options with doodles, text and voice message support for both the Wanderwatch and the free parent’s app.
